Keeping Ourselves Safe

Today we had Constable Genie take us for our KOS session.  We really enjoyed our time with her.

Busy Us!

Yesterday we got our dinosaur out of the water and egg.  We all got to feel it and we described it in our stories.  Most of us thought it felt slimy!
We also learnt today how to write on a google doc on the ipads.  Some of us will try this as an extra writing activity.

Our maths problem for the week:

And some of us solving it:

We are also getting ready for our sharing assembly next week!  Week 7.  We hope you can join us.

Dino's Galore!

Today we had fun dancing with Kate, in between our learning in class.  Mrs Ray brought a dinosaur egg to put into water and see what will happen.  Ayla-Grace was our star of the day and when she dropped the egg into the water it floated for 3 seconds, plopped under the water, bubbled and sat on the bottom.
What do you think will hatch?

We had Tuesday problem solving today and here was our problem.  Mother Triceratops is giving each of her 5 baby Triceratops new horns. Each Triceratops has 3 horns each. How many horns does Mother Triceratops need?

Can you write it as a number sentence?

___ + ___ + ___ + ___ + ___ = ____

We had so much fun working out this problem, firstly with equipment, then drawing and finally in our number sentence.

How many horns would Mummy need for 8 babies?

Dino Antics

This morning when we came to school and we had a new dino door and a visitor!  Can you spot him?

We also became paleontologists again today when we excavated our dino's from our of the freezer.   We used a mallet to free them from the ice and wrote some fabulous stories afterwards.  Gosh we are having fun with dinosaurs.

We love our Mummy's

For Mother's day last week we created some lovely flower in a pot hand cards.  The children wrote very sweet reasons why they love their Mum's onto the pots.  We hope you all enjoyed getting yours and had a lovely Mother's day.

.....and three lovely stories about Mother's day.

Leaf Fights and Dinosaurs, Oh my

Today we had so much fun!  We went for a walk to see our new school mural, which is fabulous.  We spotted a huge pile of leaves and decided to have a leaf fight for fitness.

After all that leaf fighting we had a language experience.  We each got a dinosaur and a pot and walked to the kitchen.  Each pot was filled with water and put into the freezer.  We wonder what will happen to them and what we will do next?

While out and about, we had a look at the men finishing off our cool new turf.  The man was laying sand on it to weigh the glue down.

We had a full stop focus today in writing, and got a sticker when we put them in the correct places!  We wrote about our frozen dinosaurs.

For maths we had to guess how big T-Rex's foot was.  Then we had to guess how many shoes we thought would fit inside it.  We found out that 17 of our shoes fit inside the 83cm by 71cm footprint!

Te Reo & Dino Silhouettes

We have been enjoying learning some Te Reo in room 3.  Yesterday we played a matching game to learn our body parts.  We also got to sing 'Mahunga, pakihiwi' along with these children, which we loved doing.

We also completed our dinosaur silhouette art and look how fabulous they look!

FIFA Friday

On Friday we were very lucky to have Willium the Under 20 World Football Cup mascot come to our school with some cool coaching for us all.  We had such a great time and a few clever soccer stars scored a goal.

We also finished our Autumn Trees and began some dinosaur silhouette art.

......and finished our day with singing.
