Welcome to our class blog for 2015. We are a class of Year 1 students, we are excited to share our learning with you. Please leave us comments to make our blog come to life!
Yesterday we went into Room 3 to see our buddies. We took some books to read our buddies and they read to us. We ended our time together with a new energizer Mrs Ray taught us all called Tahi Rua Toru Wha. We are so lucky to have such great buddies.
Our favourite website at the moment is explore.org where we can watch live cameras of amazing animals. Our favourite to watch is the Puffin and the Bears. We have become very attached to them and enjoy writing about them.
Here we are digging dinosaurs and being paleontologists.
Hilary drew us some fabulous dinosaurs to use in in our art. We painted them with very bright colours and look forward to see them hanging up.
These are the Tuatara scratching pictures we have been working away on. Tuatara are known as the only living dinosaur and we are very lucky to have them in New Zealand.
Today Harry turned 6! As you can see he is pretty happy about being 6. Happy Birthday Harry.
Our Matariki feathers are looking fabulous and will be put into our cloak (Korowai) soon. Thank you for being apart of this at home too.
Today in maths we began with some quick 10's frame images. We had to work out how many magnets were on the board in 3 seconds. Mrs Ray was asking us "How did you see 8?" This is what we came up with:
Today Liam came back to school after spending two weeks with his Mum in Rotorua. We were so happy to see him and give him birthday hugs. Happy birthday big 6 year old!
Our volcano has started to open over the weekend!! We are looking at WOW words this week look out for some great describing words in our writing.
Today Koby turned 6 and we sang Happy Birthday to him! We also gave him a special certificate. He told us he got a new bike!! Happy Birthday Koby.
For our language experience we put a volcano into water to see what would happen. Some bubbles came out and it dropped to the bottom of the water. We write some neat stories about the volcano and we wonder what will come out of it?
Yesterday we started looking at measurement. We used words like BIG, SMALL, TALL, LONG and SHORT to describe and measure our dinosaurs we made out of play dough with Miss Kemp.
Today we learnt about being bucket fillers. We watched the story below and talked about what made a bucket filler and a bucket dipper. We all want to beBUCKET FILLERS in room 3! We then talked about who can we tell if someone is dipping into your bucket! Our Keeping Ourselves Safe programme helped us answer this!
Happy Birthday to Delilah today!!!! We have lots of 6 year old birthdays coming up soon.
Today we made some yummy rice bubble crispy for our language experience. We all had a turn mixing it and loved how it smelt and tasted. The recipe is below so you can make some for your family, or teacher ;)
Recipe : 100 grams butter 3 Teaspoons honey 3 Tablespoons brown sugar 3 Cups Rice Bubble Mix brown sugar, butter, and honey in a pot and bring to the boil for 4 minutes on a low heat after boiling.
