Term Three 2015
Welcome
back to the second half of 2015. A special welcome to our new families and new
children. We are also welcoming Lorraine Bristol who will be teaching in Room 1
later on this term.
Hopefully
everyone is well rested and ready for a busy term. We look forward to another
fast paced, exciting term with lots of opportunities for the children in our
rooms to share new learning experiences. The following are some reminders to
keep our term running smoothly.
1 Bookbags Every child in the junior
school at Pukete School is expected to have a bookbag. These need to be brought
to school every day. If your child does not have his or her bookbag at school
no reader will be sent home.
2 Library books –Room 13 14
and 3’s library day is Friday, Rooms 11 and 12’s is Thursday. Your child will bring home a library book each
week. Please return the books on or before library day. Children in the junior
school are allowed one book at a time.
3 Clothing: Please name all clothing
(name behind the school emblem as well as on the tag). This will enable
children to keep track of their own clothing. All children need to be provided
with a spare set of clothing to be kept in their schoolbag (this should include
underwear). This does not have to be uniform. If your child needs to change and
a spare set of clothing has not been provided parents will be contacted. N.B. Any stockings or long socks should be
black or blue. Thermals or undergarments should not be visible under your
child’s uniform.
4 9:30 am Fruit Break. Each day children will be
required to have a piece of fresh fruit or vegetable
(chopped up) for a healthy fruit break in the morning. Please do not send fruit
or vegetables that require peeling or cutting as we do not have the facilities
to cater for this.
5 Class lessons begin at
8:55am. Children
are welcome in the classroom after
8:30am. There is NO supervision available before this time. Children must remain in the SENIOR quad area
until 8:30 (with or without an adult.) We would ask that at the end of the
day parents and caregivers wait outside until the children have been dismissed.
It is disruptive when children are removed from the classroom before 3pm.
6 Drink
bottles. Please
provide your child with a drink bottle to be kept in their bag during the week.
These will be filled with water only, for use during the classroom hours. Drink
bottles will be sent home each week to be cleaned. Please return them each
Monday. It is extremely important that children are well hydrated and access to
the outside water fountains is limited when the weather is wet.
7 Money. All money sent
to school should be placed in an envelope, with your child’s name and room
number written on it, and taken to the office.
8 School Cross Country
This
will take place in the second half of this term. Children will be practicing
daily in September. Shoes suitable for running would be advisable, if children
wear unsuitable shoes they will be required to run in bare feet for safety
reasons.
Our
theme for this term is Growth. We hope that the children will enjoy this fun
topic.
We
look forward to sharing time and events with you and your child in Term Three.

Welcome
back. We would like to welcome all the new children and their families.
The
following are just a few reminders to enable our classrooms to run smoothly.
Bookbags.
Every
child in the junior school at Pukete School is expected to have a bookbag.
These need to be brought to school every day. If your child does not have his
or her bookbag at school no reader will be sent home.
Readers
Your
child will bring home a reader from Monday to Thursday. This book will either
be at or below his/her reading level. If
there are any concerns over the levels of these books please let us know. Each
Friday a poem and phonics sheet will be sent home for reading practice.
Library
Room
3, Room 13 and 14’s library day is Friday and Rooms 11 and 12’s day is
Thursday. Your child will bring home a library book each week. Please return
these on or before library day. Children in the junior school are allowed one
book at a time.
Drink Bottles
Please provide your child with a drink bottle to be
kept in their bag during the week. These will be filled with water only, for
use during the classroom hours. Drink bottles will be sent home each week to be
cleaned. Please return them each Monday. These are important even as the
weather gets cooler.
Fruit Break
Each day children will be required to have a piece
of fresh fruit or vegetable (chopped up) for a
healthy fruit break in the morning. Please do not send fruit or vegetables that
require peeling or cutting as we do not have the facilities to cater for this.
Clothing
It is
timely to remember that the school uniform policy is that children should not
wear garments that are visible underneath their uniform. A sleeveless singlet
is more than adequate in our warm rooms. Please remember that long socks and
stockings should be black or dark blue.
Please name all clothing (name behind the school
emblem as well as on the tag). This will enable children to keep track of their
own clothing. All children need to be provided with a spare set of clothing to
be kept in their schoolbag (this should include underwear). This does not have
to be uniform. If your child needs to change and a spare set of clothing has
not been provided parents will be contacted.
Money
All money should be placed in a named envelope and
put in the box in the office.
Classroom Routines
Class lessons begin at 8:55am. Children are welcome
in the classroom after 8:30am. There
is NO supervision available before this time. Children must remain in the SENIOR quad area until 8:30 (with or
without an adult.) We would ask that at the end of the day parents and
caregivers wait outside until the children have been dismissed. It is
disruptive when children are removed from the classroom before 3pm.
